The Astral Sonata: Music That Takes You to the Border of Heaven and Hell

I've always been fascinated by duality. Light and shadow, peace and chaos, heaven and hell. I don't see them as religious places, but as states of mind we balance between every day. Every situation, every challenge, gives us a choice. Will we react with fire and anger, or with hope and peace? This constant dilemma, this search for the right path in life, became the inspiration for my new piece – The Astral Sonata for trumpet and piano.
Between Heaven and Hell: What Is The Astral Sonata About?
I wanted to create a piece that wasn't just music, but a mirror of our inner world. The Astral Sonata is about the constant connection of energies that are all around us and inside of us. It's about knowing that we can always choose how we react. We can let ourselves be consumed by the destructive fire of our emotions, like a personal hell, or we can find the strength and hope that feels like a blessing from heaven.
These contrasts are the heart and soul of the entire piece. You can hear them in the melodies and harmonies, and you can see them in the official video, where dark, unsettling shots are mixed with bright, ethereal ones. This music is about something much bigger than one person. I know it’s not for everyone, and I’m completely okay with that. I wrote it for a small community of people who feel music the same way I do, who are on the same vibration and can see the art beneath the surface. It’s for those with a sensitive ear and an open heart, who can find exactly what they need in the music.
The Sound of Impressionism in a Modern Form
While the mood of the piece might remind you of the Impressionist era, it is a truly contemporary sonata in its form. I used elements of modern music, like dissonant chords and unexpected, non-melodic moments that break the harmony. These represent the obstacles and surprising turns we all face in our lives.
The entire piece is built on the sonata form. Right from the beginning, in the exposition, I tried to create a cosmic, mystical mood to pull the listener into the story and make them curious. My goal was to create a space where everyone can find their own story and meaning. If you listen very closely, you will discover many hidden motifs and an acoustic space I designed to give the music its cosmic and mystical feel.
A Combination of Exceptional Talents

A piece like this could never come to life without amazing musicians. I was incredibly lucky that two wonderful artists accepted my invitation to collaborate:
Mgr. Oľga Šuppová (piano): A teacher at the Dezider Kardoš Private Conservatory in Topoľčany, whose skill and feel for music are just incredible. She played even the most difficult parts with passion and a deep understanding of the piece.
Anita Gardlíková (trumpet): An excellent trumpet player and a longtime good friend of mine, who is currently studying at the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (KUG). Her tone was exactly what I imagined for this piece – powerful, yet fragile and full of emotion.
The Place Where Music Was Born

The entire piece was recorded in the beautiful concert hall of the Dezider Kardoš Private Conservatory in Topoľčany. I want to give them a huge thank you for their support and for providing the perfect environment.
This is also the place where I currently study composition.
A special thank you goes to my teacher, Mgr. art. Jaroslav Hruška. His professional guidance, valuable advice, and knowledge that he shares with me are priceless for my work.

From the first note to the final mix and mastering, and even creating the official music video – I managed the entire process. It was another amazing journey where I could turn my vision into a final reality.
